THE WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL

The World Affairs Council links greater Seattle to the world. World Affairs Council programs provide opportunities for everyone in greater Seattle to be a global citizen by advancing a deep understanding of international events and culture. As a hub for all things international, the World Affairs Council creates programs and opportunities for local people to interact directly with leaders, educators, and professionals from around the world. Throughout my time at the World Affairs Council, I was able to interact with visitors and community leaders from Iran, Mexico, Africa, and South America!

During my internship at the World Affairs Council, I worked closely with the director of the International Visitors Program, which organizes fellowships, speaking arrangements, and large events for internationally-engaged and influential world leaders. I was heavily involved in the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative, which empowers entrepreneurs and innovative civil society leaders from Latin America to strengthen their capacity to launch and advance their entrepreneurial ideas and effectively contribute to social and economic development in their communities. I helped organize 14 fellowship organizations to host young entrepreneurs from Latin America for the month of October. I also helped program the African Women's Entrepreneurial Program, an outreach, education, and engagement initiative that targets African women entrepreneurs to promote business growth and empower them to become voices of change in their communities.
